FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY PROJECT

This award is given in recognition of a project conceived and supported by a Library Friends organization that exemplifies the significant contribution the group has made to library services in a local community. Any library project in operation in the previous calendar year may be recommended for this award. Entries will be judged on the extent to which a library has improved its service by the project described. Additional criteria may include vision, creativity or uniqueness of the project.

LIBRARIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Librarian of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding librarian who has made a significant contribution to the field, both in her/his community and in the larger library world. Nominations will be judged on the length of time the librarian has worked in the profession and the work he or she has done to promote good library service and library advocacy in the system and the state.

LIBRARY BOARD MEMBER AWARD

This award recognizes an exemplary record of library service while serving on an advisory or governing board of a CTLS member library. It rewards a private citizen who has donated significant time and/or effort to help the library achieve its goals. Nominations will be judged on the quality of the time contributed, although quantity may be a factor when judging is close. Other criteria include the significance of the board member’s role in the activities for which he or she is nominated. It may also include service which has continued over a long period of time.

YOUTH LIBRARY VOLUNTEER AWARD

The Youth Library Volunteer Award recognizes exemplary volunteer efforts by a young person, up to and including age 18, who has donated significant time and/or effort to a member library to help achieve its goals. Nominations will be judged on the quality of time contributed and the significance of the youth volunteer’s role in the activities for which he or she is nominated.
